- Travelers must live 100 miles away from any Monument Health facility.
- Permanent staff must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler.
- Patient types include pre/post-surgical patients, CVA, seizures, cellulitis, influenza, UTIs, pneumonia, COPD, CHF, renal failure, hepatic failure, gastrointestinal disorders, infections, soft tissue injury, minor fractures, and DVTs.
- Required certifications include BLS, ACLS, NIHSS.
- Required education is completion of a nursing education program approved by a board of nursing.
- Skills required include comfortability taking MedSurg assignments, previous experience with patients including IMC/stepdown and neuro, ability to read/interpret cardiac strips, wound care, line management, drain/tube management, drip titration of medications like Heparin, Insulin, Cardizem, Amiodarone, Levophed, occasionally esmolol drips or other Betablockers or antihypertensives.
- Support on the unit includes one CNA to eight patients, two charge nurses for ONS, phlebotomy, resource nurse during dayshift/varied hours, RT, and hospitalist.
- Charting system includes Epic (strongly preferred), Alaris, and Omnicell.
- Floating could be to any Adult Inpatient Unit - Med Surg, Ortho/Neuro/Surgical, Heart and Vascular Unit, Oncology, Observation and will be in rotation with other travelers.
- Orientation includes 2 days of unit/department orientation and 2 orientation shifts on the unit with a preceptor.
- Scheduling is based on 6-week schedules, with possible weekend rotations and no mandatory call time.
- Time off can be approved for up to 1.5 weeks, but must extend contract to accommodate a full 13-week contract.
- Other notes include scrub color (Navy Blue), free parking, and monthly audits for Pre/Post pain scoring.
