Infant Room Teacher Assistant

Summary
As an Infant Room Teacher Assistant, you will work alongside the lead teacher to provide a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment for infants aged 8 weeks to 18 months. You will support daily classroom activities, assist with child care routines, and contribute to the overall development and well-being of the infants.
Duties
1. Assisting in Child Care and Development:
- Support the lead teacher in providing attentive and loving care to infants, ensuring their physical, emotional, and developmental needs are met.
- Assist with implementing age-appropriate activities that promote sensory exploration, fine and gross motor skill development, language acquisition, and social interaction.
2. Health and Safety:
- Help maintain a clean, safe, and organized classroom environment, adhering to health and safety guidelines and licensing standards.
- Assist with daily health checks and ensure proper hygiene practices are followed.
3. Parent Communication:
- Engage positively with parents/guardians during drop-off and pick-up times.
- Provide updates on daily activities, routines, and any notable observations about each child's progress to the lead teacher.
4. Collaboration with Team:
- Work closely with the lead teacher and other staff members to ensure smooth transitions, consistent care, and effective communication within the infant room.
- Support in preparing and maintaining materials and equipment needed for daily activities.
5. Documentation and Record-Keeping:
- Assist in maintaining accurate records of children's daily activities, milestones, and observations.
- Help prepare developmental assessments and progress reports as needed.
6. Professional Development:
- Participate actively in training sessions and staff meetings to enhance knowledge and skills related to early childhood education and infant care.
- Seek opportunities for professional growth and development in collaboration with the lead teacher.
Requirements
- Previous experience working with infants in a childcare setting is preferred.
- Basic understanding of child development principles and best practices for infant care.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact effectively with children, parents, and colleagues.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and follow directions from the lead teacher.
- Patience, compassion, and a genuine interest in supporting the growth and development of infants.
Working Conditions:
- This position may involve standing, bending, lifting, and other physical activities associated with caring for infants.
- Work hours may vary, including early mornings and occasional evenings for parent events or meetings.
