Job Summary
Manages, trains, and directs the work of 16 hourly employees. Coordinates distribution and testing of samples to Inspection lab received from Operations and other outside sources. Conducts analytical testing and new method development for troubleshooting needs. Finds solutions to technical problems associated with Lab Equipment/testing. Performs safety meetings. Tracks and reports Laboratory QA/QC – including but not limited to SQC per D6299. Facilitates LIMS upgrades. Documents and reports results of all projects. Represents company in technical groups. Liaison for Engineering, Operations and Environmental Departments.
Minimum Qualifications
· Bachelors Degree with 5 years of job related experience.· Valid Driver's License· Specialized training in Petroleum Lab Operations· Knowledge of DOT shipping requirements· Skills require chemical handling background with trouble-shooting of technical equipment.· Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) Eligibility
Job Duties
1. Manage/oversee the 24/7 Laboratory test schedule and testing done by 16 hourly employees associated with crude monitoring, finished product (gasoline, distillates,solvents) quality, and intermediate stream control. Coordinate with Operations, Process Technology, Product Supply, and Planning to troubleshoot operability issues and/or resolve product quality issues. Ensure timely coordination with all Labs as necessary.2. Ensure that testing is executed per posted method procedures and specifications. Develop and keep analytical testing procedures current.3. Update, generate and manage timely execution of test schedule each shift via the Laboratory Information Management System. Manage the LIMS data base to be error free and current. Issue Unit test report reports from same. Work with IT to install upgrades and resolve downtime related problems.4. Maintain and calibrate analytical equipment. Ensure standards, reagents are up to date and maintain adequate replacement inventory of all consumables, instrument parts, applicable supplies and reagents.5. Train, certify and periodically audit Testers on existing and new test methods and Lab safety procedures6. Ensure compliance with OSHA requirements for industrial hygiene and EPA regulatory compliance – including responsibility for RFG compliance and maintaining SQC compliance per ASTM D6299.7. Maintain adequate Inspection Lab staffing by issuing weekly shift schedule for Testers per agreed-to union contract language. Resolve staffing issues as necessary.
