Currently, we are seeking an experienced and dedicated pediatric nurse to join our team and provide specialized care for an 11-month-old child who requires tracheostomy (trach) and gastrostomy tube (G-tube) care. At our agency, we prioritize creating a supportive and nurturing environment where our patients receive the highest quality of care, and we are looking for a skilled nurse to help us continue this mission.
Job Responsibilities:
- Provide compassionate and skilled nursing care to an 11-month-old child with tracheostomy and gastrostomy tubes in a home health setting.
- Perform trach care procedures, including suctioning, dressing changes, and maintenance of trach equipment, following established protocols and safety measures.
- Administer G-tube feedings, medications, and treatments accurately and safely, adhering to prescribed schedules and dosages.
- Monitor the child's respiratory status, vital signs, and overall health condition closely, recognizing and responding promptly to any signs of distress or changes in condition.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary healthcare team, including physicians, therapists, and caregivers, to develop and implement individualized care plans tailored to the child's specific needs.
- Educate and support the child's family and caregivers in trach and G-tube care techniques, providing training and guidance to ensure safe and effective care delivery at home.
- Document all nursing assessments, interventions, and communications accurately and timely in the electronic health record system.
- Provide emotional support and encouragement to the child and family, fostering a trusting and caring relationship and promoting a positive care experience.
Qualifications:
- Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of Florida.
- Minimum of [1] years of pediatric nursing experience, with specific experience in trach and G-tube care preferred.
- Certification in Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
- Proficiency in tracheostomy care procedures, including suctioning, trach dressing changes, and troubleshooting trach-related issues.
- Knowledge of G-tube feeding protocols, including administration of feeds, medications, and tube maintenance.
- Strong assessment and critical thinking skills, with the ability to recognize and respond to changes in the child's condition effectively.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with the healthcare team, family members, and other stakeholders.
- Compassionate, patient, and dedicated to providing family-centered care and support to pediatric patients and their families.
