Job Summary

The Controller will be responsible for the overall accounting functions of the company. Primary responsibilities include accurate GAAP compliant accounting and financial reporting, timely production of periodic financial results, management and development of the accounting department, and maintaining a comprehensive set of controls to both mitigate risk and ensure accuracy of financial results.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage a timely and accurate monthly close process including general ledger management, balance sheet reconciliations, and financial reporting for the company and subsidiaries, in accordance with GAAP standards
  • Develop and maintain effective internal control policies, procedures, and systems to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. Continuously evaluate and enhance internal controls to align with GAAP standards.
  • Conduct thorough financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement. Provide meaningful insights and recommendations to senior management to mitigate risk and support strategic decision-making.
  • Coordinate and facilitate all aspects of external audits and covenant reporting, including planning, fieldwork, and reporting phases. Liaise with external auditors to ensure timely completion of audit and resolution of audit findings. Stay current on auditing standards and regulations to ensure compliance with audit requirements.
  • Oversee the management of accounts receivable and payable functions, including monitoring outstanding balances, aging analysis, and collections efforts / payment plans. Develop and implement strategies to optimize net working capital and minimize bad debt losses. Collaborate with sales and customer service teams to resolve customer disputes and ensure optimal payment processing.
  • Lead and mentor accounting team to meet departmental goals and objectives by fostering a culture of servant leadership highlighted by accountability, teamwork, empowerment, and professional development.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles as it relates to cash, inventory, accounts payable, accounts receivable and general ledger accounts.
  • Candidate must be proficient with accounting information systems; experience in Microsoft Dynamics, Salesforce, Power BI preferred
  • Candidate must be a well-organized, positive, energetic, detail oriented problem solver with a proven ability to communicate to all levels and meet deadlines.
  • Embrace servant leadership principles, demonstrating a commitment to serving and empowering team members to reach their full potential.

Education and/or Experience

  • 4 Year bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA designation and master's degree preferred.
  • 6+ years of progressive experience in accounting and financial management roles with supervisory experience; public accounting experience preferred.
