Job DescriptionJob DescriptionPosition Description:
The Senior Systems Engineer III (Linux) is responsible for the effective deployment, management, and maintenance of Linux-based systems crucial to national defense operations. This role includes configuring and administering Linux servers and workstations, ensuring system stability, performance, and security in compliance with DoD standards. The engineer is tasked with installing, updating, and securing software, managing system backups, and troubleshooting technical issues. They also play a vital role in system integration, assisting with the implementation of new solutions and technologies within the Linux environment. The Systems Engineer must have a strong understanding of Linux operating systems, network protocols, and security best practices. Continuous learning is important in this role to stay abreast of the latest developments in Linux systems and cybersecurity. Effective communication and collaboration skills are essential, as the engineer often works with various IT teams and must clearly convey technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Requires Security Clearance: TS/SCI position. Personnel must possess a final DoD-granted TS with SCI eligibility.

Certification: CSSP or CASP

Education: High School diploma/GED

Experience:
  • Minimum of ten years of directly related experience providing solutions to a wide range of technical and computer engineering requirements in a Standard Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) compliant Linux-based enterprise level (in support of at least 3000 users) environment.
    1. This experience must have been performed within the last five years.
  • Demonstrated experience with designing and implementing enterprise services across many separate computing environments.
  • Demonstrated experience in enterprise backup and recovery implementation and support.
  • Demonstrated experience in building services that are hardened according to the DISA STIG and RMF requirements.
  • Demonstrated experience in Cloud (AWS/Azure), Linux (RHEL), and/or enterprise storage systems.
  • Demonstrated experience in working with application owners (both client/server and web applications) to ensure application requirements are met in support of 1900-suported applications.
