We are currently looking for an individual with mechanical knowledge and experience and familiarity with heavy equipment operation or a desire and ability to be trained.

POSITION – Yard Sorter

JOB LOCATION – Eau Claire, Wisconsin

STARTING DATE – Immediately

EMPLOYMENT TERM – Direct Hire

EMPLOYMENT TYPE – Full-Time

WORK HOURS (SHIFT) – Day Shift (Mon-Thurs 5:45am-6:00pm, with occasional Friday as needed)

STARTING PAY – $21.75 per hour

REQUIRED EDUCATION – High School Diploma/GED or equivalent preferred

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE – Previous Forklift, Skidsteer, End Loader experience required

Under supervision, the Sorter loads and unloads materials from customer vehicles or trucks, organizes them into designated areas, and utilizes mechanized equipment to sort and/or break down materials for customer use.

Responsibilities:

• Deliver exceptional customer service at the scale by providing prompt assistance, weighing materials, and accurately inspecting and identifying them.
• Accurately input customer and product information into the system.
• Learn to operate machines such as forklifts, balers, shaker tables, etc., to facilitate the recycling process.
• Work in a warehouse-like environment exposed to various weather conditions.
• Inspect incoming materials received from customers.
• Identify and sort metals according to different grades and mill specifications.
• Package scrap materials appropriately.
• Sort iron based on mill specifications.
• Operate alligator shear to cut down materials.
• Move materials within the yard or warehouse using forklifts, bobcats, or pay loaders.
• Utilize torching equipment to break down materials when necessary.
• Perform additional tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED preferred but not required.
• Must interact with customers and vendors in a friendly and courteous manner.
• Previous experience operating heavy machinery preferred but not required; training will be provided.
• Basic mechanical aptitude is necessary.
• Ability to use hand tools for minor repairs.
• Must be capable of lifting 30-50 lbs independently and 100+ lbs with a team lift.
• Strong commitment to excellent attendance and punctuality.
