Location: Browning, MT /In-person and remote

Salary/rate: $60K starting salary with fringe benefits as grant allows

Reports to: Co-Executive Director


Position Summary:


Piikani Lodge is a Native American-controlled nonprofit organization whose mission is to uplift and sustain the lifeways and economies of the Blackfeet Nation through advocacy, financial support, job development, and knowledge sharing.


The Program Officer’s primary responsibility is to assist and support Co-Ed’s, Program Directors, and Management Team in the administration and implementation of PLHI initiatives.  In this capacity, duties include coordination of program deliverables and technical assistance, thoughtful contributions to project design, budget management support, managing sub-award deliverables; and other duties as assigned.


Program officer duties shall be performed promptly, with documents, presentations, and material developed in high quality.


Responsibilities

  • Manage Piikani Lodge staff and sub awardees and resources to achieve grant objectives
  • Lead goal setting and project management on major federal and non-federal grants in the fields of agriculture, climate adaptation, health & wellbeing. 
  • Coordinate across grant partners to ensure goals and deliverables are being met.
  • Manage program files and data and assist with project reporting.
  • Work in close collaboration with other departments and programs, especially to ensure accurate accounting for grant-related income and expenditures.
  • Work with program directors and provide coordination for the effective implementation and monitoring of projects under the PLHI organization.
  • Assist in coordinating and developing documents for workshops and conferences such as: PowerPoints, webinars, and training curriculum, invitations, announcements, press releases, agendas, etc.
  • Maintain excellent relations and communications with coworkers, partners, grantees, and stakeholders.

Candidate Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or four years of relevant experience in the fields of climate, conservation, agriculture, local economics, community and Native culture 
  • Demonstrated experience working with diverse cultures and specific experience with Native American communities and cultures
  • Desire to be proactive and create a positive experience for the community

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Knowledge of non-profit organizational structure and practices
  • Native hiring preference as per 42 U.S.C. § 2000e-2(i)(1982) and Blackfeet Nation TERO Ordinance.
