Essential Position Functions
- Possess general medical assisting clinical skills (BP, pulse, temp, injections, etc.).
- Prepare patients for their visit with the doctor (show to the exam room, obtain vitals, history & medication information).
- Document all required information in patient charts, utilizing the EMR software.
- Assist doctor with all patient visits and procedures, as required.
- Coordinate all patient surgeries (medical clearance from PCP, documentation to facility, etc.).
- Verify all surgeries one week prior to all scheduled procedures (confirm authorization, facility, patient ready, etc.).
- Assist in ordering medical supplies.
- Keep all exam rooms cleaned up and organized after being used.
- Prepare all exam rooms for office visits and/or procedures.
- Stock all exam rooms and surgery suite (ENT only).
- Arrange for patient diagnostic studies (CTs, MRIs, SNAP tests, etc.).
- Follow-up with all post-op patients daily.
- Sterilize and clean all instruments and equipment.
- Complete patient related forms.
- Coordinate patient lab and pathology testing, complete requisitions for pathology samples and arrange pick-up.
- Return patient calls and complete refill requests.
- Keep physician on schedule to assist with patient flow and efficiency.
- Assist Doctor and Practice Administrator as needed.
