Purpose of Position:

The candidate will be responsible for inspecting, cleaning, and maintaining mold setups and various components. This role includes managing inventory, performing mold changeovers, and collaborating with the supervisor to ensure production needs are met. A strong mechanical aptitude, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team are essential.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Inspect, clean, repair, and maintain mold setups, color injectors, stack components, and ball valve assemblies.
  • Complete mold changeovers, material, and color changes, including screw and barrel cleaning.
  • Disassemble stacks and stage them for cleaning.
  • Clean colorant containers and barrels.
  • Inspect, test, and maintain an adequate supply of color injectors.
  • Perform daily inspections of color pots and other components.
  • Maintain and manage inventories of clean and dirty components.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records and ensure FIFO inventory consumption.
  • Conduct weekly cycle counts of raw materials.
  • Monitor raw material expiration dates and use materials accordingly.
  • Ensure pre-staging and timely delivery of materials, tooling, and parts to presses.
  • Pre-stage and deliver materials, tooling, and parts.
  • Organize and replenish setup carts and stage materials efficiently.
  • Material cleanup includes empty drums, full scrap gaylords, and empty colorant buckets. Process everything thoroughly and move it outside.
  • Promote teamwork and continuous improvement.
  • Communicate with other shifts to ensure readiness for material changes.
  • Comply with company, quality, and safety standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Drive and maintain 5S within the factory. Identify and execute solutions for 5S.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Ability to operate and maintain machinery
  • Basic math and measurement skills
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to follow safety procedures and protocols
  • Attention to detail
  • Knowledge of machine maintenance and troubleshooting
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics
  • Basic computer skills for machine control software
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills and a positive attitude.

Language Skills:

  • Proficiency in reading and writing in English.

Mathematical Skills:

  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic operations using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.

Reasoning Ability:

  • Ability to apply common sense and seek assistance when necessary.

Computer Skills:

  • Experience with ERP systems for clocking in and out of production jobs.

Physical Demands:

  • Regularly required to use hands, handle, feel, and reach with arms.
  • Frequently required to stand, walk, talk, and hear.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods and walk between floors regularly.

Safety:

  • Training on safety practices, evacuation procedures, and accident reporting will be provided.
  • Employees must report unsafe practices immediately to their supervisor.

Work is performed in a manufacturing environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an individual encounters while performing the essential functions of this position.
