SUMMARY:
The Controller will be responsible for all aspects of financial management, including treasury management, accounting operations including development of internal control policies and procedures, finance operations (AR, AP), and managing the Finance Team. This position reports directly to the Vice President of Finance.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- In partnership with the Vice President of Finance, develop processes to best support the customers (both internal and external) and suppliers to align with the Company’s annual and long-term goals across all divisions and geographic markets.
- Managing and monitoring all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements.
- Maintaining internal controls and safeguards for the receipt of revenue, costs and both team and organizational budgets and actual expenditures.
- Implementing consistent accounting policies, practices, and procedures across all programs, upholding federal, state, and local legal standards by remaining knowledgeable about existing, new, and future legislation.
- Manage all functions of Cash Cycle including Treasury Management and AP and AR Teams and processes.
- Collaborating with Corporate HR Team to hire, train and develop high performance teams through the company’s performance management processes, along with individual/team recognition for strong performance and timely intervention on all performance/behavioral concerns.
- Consolidate and analyze financial data considering the company’s goals and financial standing.
- Provide creative alternatives and recommendations to reduce costs and improve financial performance.
- Identify trends and recommend actions to Senior Management based on sound analysis.
- Completing the monthly financial close process, including ensuring all costs incurred are properly recorded, reviewing journal entries, account balance reconciliations and financial statement preparation.
- Auditing accounts to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations; coordinates with outside auditors and provides needed information for the annual external audit.
- Manage multiple data requests for audits including ABL Field Exam, Inventory Appraisal, 401(k) and ESOP testing, local and state inquiries as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Excellent leadership, communications, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent knowledge of Excel is required.
- Strong presentation skills with high attention to detail.
- Analytical thinking with a focus on long term planning.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance or business management is required, Master’s degree and or CPA preferred but not required for the right candidate with the right experience.
- Five to ten years of related experience in positions of escalating responsibility required, experience within a distribution organization preferred.
- Experience with Infor ERP software preferred.
- Experience with fixed asset accounting, general ledger management and GAAP.
