Site: Naval Surface Warfare Center IHD Main

Duties:

    • Prepare and/or provide editorial and quality assurance for various publications, identification guides, preliminary manuals, specifications, technical reports, training materials, and other technical documentation in accordance with applicable government specifications.
    • Ensure that technical and visual information (graphics, tables, videos, thumbnails, and super thumbnails) adhere and conform to established writing, editing, and formatting standards.
    • Coordinate and communicate frequently with various Subject Matter Experts.
    • Conduct independent research using various databases, websites, and repositories.
    • Create, maintain, and update bibliographic material.
    • Collaborate with colleagues and fellow technical writers to ensure consistency through the teams.
    • Provide additional input and draft proposed changes or recommendations to improve writing standards.

Requirements

    • An associate degree in technical writing, or other related discipline.
    • Additional years of work experience may be substituted for a degree.
    • At least one (1) year of technical writing/editing experience required.
    • An active DoD Secret clearance is required but the selected candidate may start with interim secret clearance.
    • The candidate selected may be subject to a security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
    • The candidate selected must be able to work independently, with minimal supervision or guidance from Subject Matter Experts.
