Hiring Range:
$51,000 at the start of training. Market Increase at the end of 18-month working test period to a minimum of $53,530.13.
Entry level 2- New Hire with AEMT or GA firefighter certification is $52,252.64. Market increases at the end of 18-month working test period to a minimum of $53,530.13.
Lateral hire with Georgia firefighter certification, Georgia AEMT/Paramedic licensure* and departmental experience. 


($1.25 per hour added for Paramedic licensure)

Minimum Qualifications:
•    At least 18 years of age at time of hire
•    High school graduate or GED
•    Valid driver’s license and satisfactory seven (7) year driving history including NO DUI’S or BUI’S
      (Boating Under the Influence) within five (5) years, or excessive violation.
•    Must be authorized to work in the United States
•    Free of any felony convictions or sufficient misdemeanor convictions to evidence a pattern
•    Successful completion of fitness evaluation, written exam, background check including criminal and credit history and interviews
•    Ability to meet physical and mental demands of the position
•    Must become certified as a Georgia Firefighter/AEMT within one year of hire
•    Must be able to attain status as a relief driver within two (4) years of hire

Equivalency -
Candidates that have any of the following may not need to take the Accuplacer Exam: AEMT/ Firefighter certification or Paramedic certification, Accuplacer Next Generation Reading, Writing & Arithmetic passing scores within the past two years.
Lateral Program may be considered for candidates with a minimum of a State of Georgia Firefighter I certificate and an Advanced EMT License, or a State of Georgia Firefighter I certification and a Paramedic License.
