Resident Aide

Under the supervision of the Program Manager and/or Director, is responsible for but not limited to supporting the daily operations of a bridge housing program for adult men with a forensic background.
Essential Functions- Meal preparation and clean up – prepare dining and kitchen area for meal service including arranging plates, utensils, prepared food for serving (food prepared offsite), and cleaning up the dining and kitchen area after meals.
- Run errands as needed for facility needs including grocery shopping, dropping off/picking up linens
- Assist program staff in organizing and implementing client recreational activities
- Assist clients with some ADLs (activities of daily living) such as changing their beds reminding clients of designated times for grooming/hygiene
- Assist with organizing client chores/roles; teach clients how to complete tasks including reminding clients to follow through with task completion in a timely and efficient manner
- Perform light cleaning duties to keep facility safe and clean including cleaning up spills, keeping dining, lobby and kitchen areas neat and clean.
- Make daily shift rounds of all housing areas, (minimum 3-4 times per shift); notify program supervisor and or security as appropriate
- Perform some administrative tasks to support staff and clients; such as, making photocopies, replenishing forms, answering phones, etc.
- Support new admits/clients in acclimating to the program and facility including, giving clients and facility tour, explaining rules and guidelines, preparing their bedroom with clean sheets etc.
- Drive clients to and from appointments and/or carry out errands on behalf of agency/program
- Maintain and update client’s files and documentation in accordance with DHS guidelines if applicable.
- Regular attendance required
- Overtime, holiday, evening or weekend work may be required
- Specific schedules - days of the week and work hours, are subject to change. One - two weeks advance notice will be given.
- Perform other tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the Program Manager and/or Director
- Assist with other program activities as pertinent
- Verification of employment eligibility and background check
- Must have own transportation, valid California Driver License, and proof of automobile insurance coverage.
- Maintain and uphold Agency mission statement, values, policies, procedures, and principles
Non-Essential Qualifications- Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Preferred one year of experience in a hospital or mental health setting which has an interdisciplinary team approach.
- Knowledge: Basic Computer software programs (Experience on Microsoft Word and Excel, Internet),
- Strong interpersonal and social skills. Bi-lingual skills a plus.
- Abilities: Ability to develop and maintain effective working relations with program and with community
- representatives and contractors, Ability to work both independently and as a member of a team.

Environmental Conditions
Job duties are to be performed both in office and field settings.
Physical Requirements
The employee is expected to drive, sit, stand, walk, carry a maximum of 20lbs, listen, and speak in order to complete job requirements.
Mental Requirements
The employee must be able to handle any/all of the following: constant distractions, interruptions, uncontrollable changes in priorities/work schedules; be able to process information, think, and conceptualize.
