Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Phlebotomist to join Your Health. The ideal candidate will be responsible for efficiently and safely collecting blood samples from patients for medical testing, transfusions, research, or donation purposes. The Phlebotomist will interact with patients, ensure their comfort, and adhere to strict safety protocols throughout the blood collection process.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform venipuncture to draw blood from patients using various techniques and equipment.
  • Greet patients, explain procedures, and ensure their comfort and safety during blood collection.
  • Locate suitable veins for blood collection and assess factors such as vein size, visibility, and accessibility.
  • Collect blood samples in appropriate containers, label specimens accurately, and maintain sample integrity.
  • Process blood samples for laboratory analysis, including centrifugation and preparation as required.
  • Record patient information, including demographics, medical history, and details of blood collection procedures.
  • Adhere to strict safety protocols to maintain a sterile environment, prevent contamination, and minimize infection risks.
  • Maintain phlebotomy equipment, including needles, tubes, and centrifuges, ensuring proper functioning and cleanliness.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals, including nurses, doctors, and laboratory staff, to ensure accurate specimen collection and timely processing.
  • Provide compassionate care to patients, address their concerns, and maintain professionalism in all interactions.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; completion of an accredited phlebotomy training program preferred.
  • Certification as a Phlebotomist (e.g., ASCP, NHA, or equivalent) strongly preferred.
  • Proven experience as a Phlebotomist in a healthcare setting preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of venipuncture techniques, blood collection procedures, and safety protocols.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with patients and healthcare professionals.
  • Compassionate and patient-focused approach to care.
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in specimen collection and documentation.
  • Flexibility to work varying shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
