Key Responsibilities:

  • Generate precise and prompt estimates for commercial plumbing projects
  • Collaborate with clients, contractors, and team members to gather project specifications
  • Examine construction blueprints and project requirements to accurately assess material and labor costs Utilize industry-standard estimating software like Bluebeam and PlanSwift for creating precise estimates
  • Present estimates to clients with detailed cost breakdowns
  • Coordinate with project managers and stakeholders to ensure precise budgeting and scheduling
  • Stay updated on industry advancements, building codes, and regulatory modifications


Requirements:

  • Prior experience as a Commercial Plumbing Estimator or in a similar capacity
  • Profound understanding of commercial plumbing systems and construction techniques
  • Proficiency in interpreting construction blueprints and specifications
  • Strong mathematical and analytical abilities
  • Familiarity with estimating software and tools
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail and ability to perform effectively under tight deadlines
  • Professional certification or a degree in plumbing, construction management, or a related field is advantageous

Compensation:

$20 - $25 hourly DOE

Responsibilities:

The Estimator performs the following duties:

  • Calculate cost factors and prepare estimates used for management purposes such as planning, organizing, scheduling work, preparing bids, selecting vendors or subcontractors, and determining cost-effectiveness
  • Prepare material lists for shop fabrication and vendors and order miscellaneous materials required for installation of plumbing systems
  • Review and qualify vendor quotes and against bid documents to ensure accurate scope coverage at the time of the bid
  • Perform detailed bid document review to accurately capture/solicit vendors/subs for quotes
  • Attend Pre-Bid Surveys to incorporate site conditions into the estimate
  • Perform detailed take-offs and produce estimate software reports
  • Identify, compile, and submit RFI questions in a timely manner
  • Consult with clients, vendors, and Project Managers to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues
  • Collect remaining estimating price data (i.e., management and general conditions costs)
  • Perform breakout, alternate & value engineering pricing as required
  • Assist with proposal scope letters for accurate inclusions, exclusions & qualifications
  • Provide project turnover information afterward
  • Assist in tracking bid status to acquire bid results
  • Participate in prime/general contractor bid review meetings
  • Select inclusions, exclusions & qualifications for accurate proposal scope letters
  • Provide project turnover information after award and participate in turnover meetings
  • Assist in tracking bid status to acquire bid results
  • Determine actual project scope and cost
  • Set up job schedules and timelines
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned
Qualifications:

Qualifications, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field or HS Diploma with 3 years estimating experience or HS Diploma with 5 years trade-related experience
  • Knowledge of plumbing codes and systems
  • Knowledge of modern office practices, procedures, and equipment
  • Knowledge of Estimating Software, Excel, Word, and other relevant computer programs
  • Knowledge of standard English written grammar and English usage
  • Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
  • Meet deadlines and plan and organize work
  • Win work at a reasonable profit
  • Maintain consistent attention to detail
  • Possession of a valid Florida Driver’s License
