Responsibilities:
- Lead workers organize and plan team meetings, discuss project logistics, assign duties, set goals, address concerns and troubleshoot problems.
- Knowledgeable with excavators and horizontal drills.
- Knowledge with the installation of handholes and manholes.
- Knowledge with the installation of conduits in the ROW.
- Knowledge with VDOT requirements to work in the ROW.
- Serve as link between team members and management.
- Maintain progress reports, discuss project goals, accomplishments and risks with management.
- Set an example by staying current on industry trends, informing team members of new policies or procedures and displaying integrity. Monitor and manage budget limitations and provide suggestions for improvement.
- Train new hires on operating procedures and company policies.
- Provide leadership, coaching, and/or mentoring to a subordinate group.
Experience and Education:
- 3-5 years’ experience in an individual contributor role or 1-2 years in a lead role.
- High school diploma, general education degree (G.E.D.), or related trade school education.
- Perform work under minimal supervision.
- Handle complex issues and problems and refer only the most complex issues to higher-level staff.
- Possess comprehensive working knowledge of subject matter.
- Valid driver’s license preferred with a driving record that meets Company requirements.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Ability to interpret work instructions
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal communication and leadership skills.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Excellent Problem/situation analysis and Decision-making skills.
- Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment while adhering to the set schedule.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented.
- Mentoring experience and ability to positively motivate team to complete projects.
