The Molecular Technologist performs complex techniques involving clinical analysis of a variety of patient specimens for the detection of human pathogens in conformance with state and federal guidelines.

  • Analyze and review results, and accurately enter results into LIS systems.
  • Performs accurate DNA/RNA extraction of clinical samples.
  • Independently and accurately perform routine and complex real-time qPCR and NGS on clinical samples for the detection of bacteria, fungi, and COVID-19 and other viruses
  • Performance of Biofire GI panels on clinical samples
  • Responsible for performing preventative maintenance and function checks on instruments and equipment.
  • Performs QA/QC to ensure validity and analytical performance of test results and troubleshooting according to lab protocols.
  • Accurately performs reagent aliquoting.
  • Aiding in the development of tests including performing validation studies.
  • Any other duties as assigned by the laboratory manager or other superiors/upper management.
Requirements:

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Possesses general clinical laboratory skills such as pipetting, a basic understanding of QA/QC activities, utilization of standard protocols, ability to critically think and troubleshoot, and proper specimen handling.
  • Capable of working independently and with a group
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Superb teamwork and multitasking skills
  • Basic computer skills including proficiency in MS Office
  • Experience with DNA/RNA Extraction and real-time qPCR.
  • Experience with chemistry analyzers is a plus.
  • MB, MLT, or MLS license a plus
