Job Description

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Oracle Transportation Management – or another TMS

  • Update Carrier’s rates in OTM using .csv files generated from Master Rate Access File to maintain accurate freight pricing.
  • Setup and maintain automated Carrier Dispatch within OTM using Carrier Dispatch Access File to generate .csv files for upload allowing plants to tender shipments to carriers via OTM.
  • Train carriers on OTM Dispatch functions, reset carrier passwords when necessary.
  • Train and assist plant personnel with OTM issues.
  • Review SAP Unrated Report daily, troubleshoot why shipments were not rated, and make necessary corrections.
  • Railroads are moving from Through Rates to “Rule 11” rates.  Having two freight invoices for one rail move will require intervention.

Sales/Sales Support/Customer Service/Operations

  • Provide rate quotations to Sales or Customer Service by obtaining quotations from carriers when rates have not been previously established.  Load new rates into OTM for future use.
  • Provide quarterly spend data for use in calculating customer pricing related to Escalation Agreements.
  • Participate in any Supply calls to understand any plant or business issues related to Logistics.
  • Maintain relationships with motor carriers and assist plants in finding carriers to cover loads when needed.

Data Analytics

  • Develop Power BI dashboards with actionable data, ie. Prepaid & Add, Prepaid & Allow, to maximize freight profitability
  • Conduct freight cost comparisons to identify savings opportunities.
  • Lead and/or participate in cost savings projects and initiatives, such as demurrage project and spot quotes.

 Rail Fleet

  • Generate daily fleet reports to all plants using data pulled from QTS and run through Rail Fleet Access File.
  • Maintain records of tankcar test due dates and obtain shop dispositions from car owners.  Route cars to and from shops for testing and other maintenance work.
  • Work with QTS to divert cars as necessary.
  • Review reports daily to make sure cars are moving as they should, and to correct destinations.
  • Review lease invoices, repair invoices, and non-routine rail freight invoices to verify accuracy and code for payment.
  • Assist with Fleet Sizing and deployment of new cars added to fleet.
  • Work with plants and railroads to minimize demurrage.
  • Assist with customer railcar demurrage.

 

 

Hazardous Materials Regulations

  • Become “subject matter expert” with issues related to compliance with USDOT regulations.
  • Review and update training materials as necessary.
  • Deliver training program to plant personnel on site. (normally on a three year interval)
  • Maintain training records for all plants using an Access database. 
  • Provide guidance to plants regarding steps necessary to achieve compliance for non-standard shipments.
  • Comply with all federal, state, and local environmental, health, and safety regulations and requirements.
  • Comply with company policies.
  • Other duties as assigned or required.
Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics, Business Administration, or related major.
  • 5 years’ experience, preferably in a Rail / Truckload / Intermodal / Bulk environment on a national scale.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Products (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Access, and Word). SAP, Power BI, and TMS experience a plus.
  • Experience working with and maintaining sensitive and confidential information.
