Engineering Technician

The Engineer Technician is responsible for the execution of Data collection, projects and procedures, all aspects of test setup and verification, prototyping and equipment functionality for a given task. The Engineering Technician is responsible for the sustainability of the Test Reference Cord program (TRC), Data collection for Compliances testing, researching and report creation during a project and Component PCB Review. This job operates primarily in a professional office environment. Some of the work will be performed in a plant environment where it may be loud.
Key Responsibilities:
- Proficiency in visual inspection, mechanical hardware and materials compliance inspections as well as basic electrical continuity testing.
- Constant analysis and diligence to identify defects, pass/fail limits, quality of work submitted and provide critical in-process feedback.
- Ability to follow quality control of complex product testing and quality verification per established standards and specifications.
- Solid understanding and ability to read wiring diagrams, cable schematics and design specifications.
- Ability to use volt meters, scopes, waveform generators, inspection using an inspection scope, power meter, light source (ORL set), an optical time domain reflectometer (OTDR) and other specialized equipment to perform test procedures.
- Effectively communicate with engineering team any products that don’t meet specifications for test or expectations for quality
- Required to contact suppliers, manufacturers, customers and other information critical individuals
- Seek Engineering Management assistance if/when required.
- Required to maintain a clean/organized workstation and adhere to all guidelines for PPE, tool use, etc.
- Ability to take pride and ownership in your work
- Required to read and follow the employee manual distributed by Tower Products Incorporated and the Quality Policy Statement
Education/Skills and Employer Expectations:
- Associate’s Degree in Engineering or related discipline
- 2+ years quality control and Engineering experience in product manufacturing
- History of progressive responsibility a plus
- Proficient with Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office programs
- Experience with CAD programs a plus
- Strong mathematical skills
- Demonstrated analytical abilities with a strong attention to detail
- Strong organizational skills
- Efficient time management skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work well with the team
- Ability to move and/or lift up to 75 lbs. – instruction required on safe lifting practices
- Frequently required to walk, sit, use hands, hand tools, reach & stretch
- Ability to work, talk/listen in loud environments
- Must be safety conscious and wear eye protection in designated work areas
- We request that all personnel wash hands when shifts are completed
