We are seeking an experienced Structural Engineer to work in a fast-paced environment with a focus on accuracy and reliability. The ideal candidate is organized, proactive, and capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously.

Key Responsibilities
  • Project Planning: Prepare plans and specifications for projects, develop preliminary cost estimates, and manage project budgets.
  • Project Management: Oversee assigned projects to ensure compliance with plans, specifications, deadlines, and budgets.
  • Construction Coordination: Coordinate contract payments, resolve construction problems, and implement design fixes in the field.
  • Team Leadership: Direct technical staff in drafting, surveying, and inspection duties.
  • Technical Reporting: Prepare technical reports on engineering design decisions for assigned projects and activities.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Organize and lead pre-construction conferences with relevant stakeholders, including agencies, contractors, and service providers.
  • Consultant Management: Prepare and manage consultant agreements for various services.
  • Design Facilitation: Facilitate the design of building facades and liaise with professional staff such as architects.
  • Public Interaction: Respond to questions from contractors, public agencies, officials, and the general public regarding policies, procedures, and practices.


Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of Professional Structural Engineer (SE) experience, including project design and construction management.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in performing engineering computations and preparing engineering designs.
  • Licensing: Possession of or ability to obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Washington. Certification as a Professional Engineer or Engineer in Training, with the ability to obtain Washington state registration within one year of hire.
  • Compliance: Must be able to pass a federal background check and work on public works projects.
  • Software Proficiency: Experience with AutoCAD or similar computer-aided drafting programs.
Preferred Skills
  • Code Compliance: Knowledge and use of Washington State Energy Code compliance.
  • Software Skills: Proficiency with phone systems (Mitel) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Communication: Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Understanding of state and federal regulations and standards for design, bidding, and construction.
  • Reporting: Ability to analyze, interpret, and prepare technical reports.
  • Judgment: Skill in exercising professional engineering judgment to achieve results consistent with objectives.
Physical Demands/Work Environment
  • Work Environment: The work is typically performed in an office setting and outdoors, occasionally in cold or inclement weather. The employee may be exposed to machinery with moving parts.
  • Physical Demands: The work involves sitting at a desk or table, standing, and walking.
