SMTC is hiring for a Purchasing Expeditor This role is temporary to permanent based on performance.


SMTC Corporation was founded in 1985. SMTC is a mid-size provider of end-to-end electronics manufacturing services (EMS) including PCBA production, systems integration and comprehensive testing services, enclosure fabrication, as well as product design, sustaining engineering and supply chain management services. SMTC has facilities in the United States, Mexico, China and Canada. Services extend over the entire electronic product life cycle from the development and introduction of new products through to the growth, maturity and end-of-life phases.


Overall Responsibilities: An Expeditor is responsible for ensuring that a business has the supplies and inventory it needs to function according to schedule. Their duties include communicating with suppliers about the status of supplies, problem-solving to reduce the impact of late shipments and submitting purchase orders to vendors.

Duties:

  • Work with different heads of department to monitor inventory levels, assess supply vendors and ensure delivered supplies meet quality standards.
  • Contact vendors, place orders, verify supplies, manage supply requisition and communicate with suppliers to determine expected delivery dates and inform buyers of potential delays.
  • Maintain production schedules for ongoing projects, assign materials and reduce cost, boost productivity and prevent delays that can affect delivery.
  • Ensure interdepartmental communication for improved coordination of productive operations.
  • Monitor project delivery timelines, check work quality against company requirements and specifications and ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Collaborate with Program buyers for updates on delivery timelines.
  • Compile, record and report project performance and progress to management and key stakeholders.
  • Performs other duties as assigned


Education and Experience for Expeditor:

  • Bachelor’s degree or at least (4) four years of experience in the Electronics Manufacturing Services industry
  • Professional Certifications such as APICS preferred
  • Must demonstrate knowledge of the MRP systems
  • Must demonstrate knowledge of the MRP systems
  • Interpersonal skills with ability to influence with minimal use of authority
  • Analytical skills and use of Excel spreadsheets for data analysis and reporting
  • Good understanding of total cost of ownership and how it applies to decision making
