Buxmont Academy has 6 campuses in southeastern PA and uses restorative practices to encourage students to grow academically and emotionally. Classes are small with a high teacher to student ratio, and our staff work together as a part of an educational team for each student.
As the health & PE teacher at Buxmont Academy, you will plan and deliver engaging lessons that promote physical activity, health education, and overall well-being for students. You will create a positive and inclusive classroom environment, assess student progress, and provide feedback to support their growth. Additionally, you will collaborate with colleagues to integrate health and fitness concepts across the curriculum, and participate in professional development opportunities to enhance your teaching skills. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include organizing and supervising physical activities, promoting healthy lifestyles, and serving as a positive role model for students.
We offer a competitive salary, 401K retirement plan, paid time off, and health, vision, and dental insurances. Hours are Monday through Thursday, 7:30am to 3:30pm, Fridays until 2:30pm. There are no evening or weekend hours. Qualified candidates will possess a bachelor's degree or higher level of education, and either PA teaching certification or the ability to obtain certification. We welcome qualified candidates who are interested in becoming teachers. We also welcome retired teachers who miss being in the classroom
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Desire to teach secondary school-aged students and ability to adapt to their developmental status.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the proven ability to maintain professionalism and tact in high stress situations.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- The capacity to work effectively both independently and with a team.
- Proficient computer skills.
