Job DescriptionJob DescriptionDescription:

Reporting directly to the Human Health Manager, the BioSkills Lab Technician will maintain responsibilities related to BioSkills human cadaver labs and general duties; logistical and operational functions relating to BioSkills lab events held within the Oquendo Center; and general upkeep and cleanliness of all facility areas, equipment, and instrumentation related to clinical activities. Compliance with organizational standards, policies and procedures is mandatory. This position will interact with a wide variety of medical clients as well as general meetings and events clients in an array of professions. This position requires the ability to work a schedule in accordance with business needs. Scheduled hours can include working up to forty (40) hours per week, possible overtime, and weekends and holidays.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Set up and break down all rooms scheduled for events
  • Set out instruments for the lab and ensure lab stations are stocked, instruments are cleaned, and rooms are sanitized
  • Maintain lab equipment and instruments, reporting deficiencies and removing them from use
  • Prepare shipping and receiving of lab materials
  • Maintain inventory supplies and manage shipping & receiving
  • Ensure compliance with policies & procedures, reporting any violations and/or safety hazards
  • Perform other job duties as assigned

Education, Experience Skills & Abilities

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Certification in Medical Laboratory Technology or related field is a plus
  • Experience with medical procedures and labs
  • Experience with setting up and breaking down of lab rooms, and equipment needed for procedures
  • Knowledge of sanitization rules and OSHA requirements

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit, use hands and fingers, talk, hear, and smell continually. Ability to stand, walk and reach frequently. Ability to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch occasionally.
  • Ability to frequently lift and carry up to 10 lbs. and occasionally lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Close vision required to see computer monitor, read documents, and operate copy and fax machine. Distance vision is required to drive an automobile if driving is a requirement of the job.
  • Work environment is indoors and climate controlled. Occasionally exposed to outdoor weather conditions.
  • Moderate noise levels as found in a business office with computer printers, households with TVs and dishwashers, and driving light traffic.
