Description: The Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) in the Operating Room (OR) plays a crucial role in surgical procedures, ensuring the surgical environment is prepared and maintained according to sterile technique and assisting surgeons as needed. Responsibilities include:

  • Understanding and demonstrating knowledge of surgical procedures.
  • Ensuring availability and functionality of all supplies and equipment required for procedures.
  • Confirming and assembling sterile instruments accurately.
  • Anticipating the needs of surgeons during procedures.
  • Assisting in maintaining accurate records of medications, instruments, and sponges.
  • Maintaining and monitoring the sterile field throughout surgical procedures.
  • Preparing tools and equipment before procedures.
  • Ensuring sterility of all equipment used.
  • Assisting surgeons during operations.
  • Disinfecting all equipment and tools used after surgery.
  • Cleaning the operating room post-procedure.

RequirementDescription:

  • Minimum Experience: At least 2 years of scrub experience in surgical settings.
  • Preferred Experience: Recent traveler experience is highly preferred.
  • Specialized Experience: Must have experience in crani, neuro, and vascular surgeries.
  • Profile Requirements:
    • Detailed work history reflecting surgical tech experience.
    • Current Skills Checklist, updated within the last year, specific to surgical specialties.
    • Two Supervisory Reference Forms completed within the last two years.
    • Licensure & Certifications: Must hold certification from NBSTSA, NCCT, or ABSA, and possess current BLS certification from AHA.
    • Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius from the facility (local candidates will not be considered).

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Completion of a Certified Surgical Technologist program.

Certifications & Licenses:

  • Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification from NBSTSA, NCCT, or ABSA required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from American Heart Association (AHA) required.

Languages:

  • English (Speak, Read, Write)

Minimum Degree Required:

  • High School Diploma or GED
