Responsible for preventative maintenance and predictive maintenance routines as well as the corrective maintenance of all of Lumber Products machinery and equipment. Conducts trouble shooting and root cause analyses of machinery and equipment problems to maximize uptime, quality, and productivity. Completes work safely and correctly. Achieves the company’s mission by supervising and training inmate workers in industrial maintenance.

  1. Dedicated to safety; knows and applies all applicable safety policies and procedures.
  2. Supervises and trains inmate workers in maintenance activities.
  3. Maintains a clean and organized work area.
  4. Maintains excellent relationships with PRIDE and FDC staff and promotes a team atmosphere.
  5. Troubleshoots and corrects problems with mechanical-, electrical-, air-, and hydraulic systems.
  6. Adjusts, aligns, and lubricates machinery and equipment.
  7. Maintains rolling stock, such as trucks, trailers, loaders and forklifts.
  8. Replaces defective parts such as blades, knives, cylinders, hoses and lines, sprockets, pumps, drives, gearboxes, chains, splices and tracks conveyor belts, etc.
  9. Installs machines and equipment using various tools and devices.
  10. Reads, understands, and applies information in maintenance manuals, technical manuals, policies, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics, diagrams and drawings.
  11. Fabricates and welds machinery parts.
  12. Emails, writes reports, tracks data and conducts research.
  13. Ensure compliance with rules and regulations for hazardous materials and waste.
  14. Expands knowledge and skills as needed to maintain updated machinery and/or facilities and is involved with process improvement at the industry.
  15. Performs other duties as assigned.


Requirements:
  • Education and Experience: Three (3) years of experience in lumber mill maintenance. Prefer two years supervisory experience.
  • Language Skills: Good verbal, written, and electronic communication skills.
  • Mathematical Skills: Basic math skills.
  • Reasoning Ability: Reading comprehension.
  • Specialized Knowledge and/or Skill:
  • Proficient in the use of tools and measuring equipment.
  • Forklift certified.
  • Self-starter.
  • Understand quality and production.
  • Safety management with documentation.
  • Ability to foster teamwork.
  • Detail-oriented.
  • Manage stress and conflict resolution skills.
  • Proficient in reading schematics, manuals and documents
  • (CPI) Continuous Process Improvement.
  • Other Skills and Abilities: People/leadership skills. Self-starter. Personal time management. Honest, straightforward, dependable, pleasant, adaptable and a Team Player.
