Job Description

The Salvage Yard Scale Operator is responsible for weighing incoming and outgoing materials, providing accurate pricing to customers, and maintaining accurate inventory records. The operator will also be responsible for providing exceptional customer service and maintaining a clean and organized work environment.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Weigh incoming and outgoing materials, including scrap metal, vehicles, and parts.
  • Provide accurate pricing to customers based on weight and type of material.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records and work with the yard team to ensure inventory levels are accurate.
  • Foster positive relationships with customers and vendors to encourage repeat business and maintain a positive reputation in the industry.
  • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations regarding salvage yard operations.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment, including enforcing safety protocols and ensuring that all employees are adhering to environmental regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Competencies

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in the salvage yard or related industry, with supervisory experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of automotive parts and their value.
  • Ability to lead and motivate a team.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.
  • Understanding of financial statements and budgeting.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Familiarity with local, state, and federal regulations regarding salvage yards.

Physical demands

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time

Pay/Benefits

  • Starting pay $15.00/hr., Depending on experience
