The working location for this position can be based onsite at the corporate headquarters located in Grand Rapids, MI, USA or to work remotely. Applicants must be authorized to work for ANY employer in the U.S. CURE is unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time.
 

POSITION OVERVIEW:

CURE’s Grants Management team has the responsibility of developing, managing and stewarding relationships with institutional grant-makers (foundations, organizations) and coordinating with the Development team as they engage with these types of funders.  

As a member of the Grants Management team, the Grants Writer is responsible for developing compelling proposals to secure grant funding for programs and services at CURE.  Duties of this position include the full range of activities required to prepare, submit, and manage grant proposals, including conducting grant prospect research, writing proposals, completing reports, and tracking all grants.  This role requires collaboration with program directors and the Development and Finance teams.  The Grants Coordinator works closely with the Global Director of Grants and Foundation Relations to help ensure cohesive fundraising strategies and messaging.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  1. Develop, write, and submit grant proposals to third party entities.
  2. Monitor public and private postings of Requests for Proposals in corporate, government, and foundation funding in areas that intersect with CURE’s mission.
  3. Conduct research into prospective funding opportunities and prepare information sufficient to assess the appropriateness, eligibility, and competitiveness of a CURE submission.
  4. Compile, analyze, and report data on the performance and outcome measures of funded program activities; periodically monitor grant performance goals between reporting periods.
  5. Maintain Salesforce to carefully track all grants and manage all deadlines.
  6. Manage mandatory reporting processes for all grants, including periodic and final reports, and renewal applications submitted to funding agencies.
  7. Collect information on, and maintain the database of, grant opportunities, submissions, and grant outcomes; submit summary reports on grant status to Grants Management leadership on a regular basis.
  8. Establish strong working relationships and excellent communication channels across all CURE departments in order to accurately reflect programs and ensure organizational compliance with grant requirements.
  9. Assist in the creation and maintenance of a library of proposal language for ongoing and future projects.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in English, Journalism, Communications or related field, or equivalent course of study/work experience. Masters degree is preferred. 
  2. Multiple years of successful grant writing experience, including grants over $100,000; experience writing federal grants is a plus.
  3. Experience in a non-profit organization preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  1. Outstanding verbal and written communication, grammar, and editing skills, with acute attention to detail.
  2. Exceptional organizational and project management skills.
  3. Computer proficiency with all MS Office Suite products (especially MS Word and Excel) and basic database entry and data analysis; Salesforce experience is a plus.
  4. Strong research, analytical, and budget development skills.
  5. Ability to manage time and multiple projects effectively to meet ambitious internal and external deadlines in a timely manner.
  6. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work well collaboratively, as well as independently, in a team environment.
  7. Ability and desire to work in a fast-paced, ever evolving, and data-driven non-profit environment.
  8. Knowledge of, and strong interest in, CURE’s mission.
  9. Creativity, optimism and a sense of humor.
