Preschool Chef

La Mère Academy has an exciting opportunity for an energetic, creative, and organized person to join us as our Food Service Manager/Chef. This position allows you to blend your experience in preparing and serving healthy and nutritious meals and snacks with your ability to communicate and collaborate positively with colleagues and children.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Plans and prepares snacks and meals in accordance with nutritional regulations
• Determines meal (breakfast & lunch) and snack (morning and afternoon) count
• Performs weekly food and supply inventory and submits a list of needed items to the Director
• Orders food and supply items from an approved supplier within the budget set by the Director and checks-in supply deliveries to ensure accuracy of order
• Ensures that all state and local health department, licensing, safety, and nutritional requirements are met
• Follows standards of personal hygiene, safety, and sanitation and ensures that other staff in the kitchen do the same
• Keeps kitchen and cafe organized and clean, including appliances, cabinets, and all inventory
• Attends and participates in staff meetings, training sessions, and academy events as requested
• Teaches students about nutrition, and to prepare easy, healthy kid-friendly snacks

QUALIFICATIONS

• Must have/maintain Food Handler/Manager Certification as required by state or local regulations
• Previous experience in a food service setting is preferred
• Pleasant/friendly demeanor and an outgoing personality
• Highly professional and dependable

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $12.00 to $20.00 /hour DOE
