Utilizing AutoCAD Electrical, our Controls Design Drafter plays a pivotal role in supporting the design of control systems for Globe's machinery. They are responsible for producing precise electrical diagrams and schematics for Globe's equipment. This position is integral to our design team, collaborating with engineers and designers to conceptualize robust, diverse, and cost-effective systems that excel in real-world environments. Proficiency as a power user of AutoCAD Electrical is a key requirement for this role.

This position is located in Tacoma, WA.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Design

  • Utilizing AutoCAD Electrical, collaborate with Controls Engineers to design comprehensive device lists and detailed electrical schematics. These include 1-line diagrams, layouts for equipment device locations and enclosures.
  • Create project bill of materials and conduct thorough reviews with controls engineers prior to releasing them to the purchasing department.
  • Collect and categorize component specifications for each project supporting the production of equipment manuals.

Technical Support

  • Research parts specifications with parts department and vendors ensuring compatibility with equipment design.
  • Confer with engineering team to determine design modifications. Incorporate those changes into the system drawings to create "as built" layouts.

Department Support

  • Work with Controls Engineering Manager to create and maintain controls drafting standards.
  • Work closely with Controls Engineering Engineers to compile design packages for transmittal to customer.
  • Act as a liaison with shop, engineering, and other internal customers in regard to drawings.
  • Research and retrieve design files from the database library relevant to specific design projections for use by the engineering team.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate degree or equivalent years of work experience in a designing/drafting role.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD Electrical software required. AutoCAD Inventor software experience desired.
  • Knowledge of industrial electrical standards required, such as UL508 and NEC's NFPA 70.
  • Minimum of three years' experience in a manufacturing environment desired.
  • Proven experience designing the controls systems for equipment required.
  • Ability to successfully collaborate with engineers, vendors, and customers required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, motion and control components strongly desired.
  • Proven attention to detail with an emphasis on drawing specifications required.
  • Proven track record of being self-motivated, working with minimal supervision, and leading and partnering with diverse team members required.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities efficiently, retain a sense of urgency and meet strict timelines required.
  • Conduct oneself with the highest level of professionalism and ethical standards.

All employees of Globe MUST be able to pass a drug test and background check. Our industry is "safety sensitive" and we do require a negative cannabis drug screen as well.
