Fiber Technician Job Description: We are seeking a skilled and experienced Fiber Technician to join our team in Thomasville, NC. As a Fiber Technician, you will play a crucial role in the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of fiber optic networks. Candidates must have previous experience working for a telecom provider, possess expertise in Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) technologies, and have the ability to provide their own work truck/SUV/Van capable of carrying a 28' telecom ladder. You are reimbursed for use of your vehicle. 

Fiber Technician Responsibilities:

  • Install, splice, terminate, and test fiber optic cables and connections in both indoor and outdoor environments.
  • Perform troubleshooting and repairs on fiber optic networks to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime.
  • Conduct fiber optic network maintenance, including cleaning, inspection, and documentation.
  • Collaborate with team members to complete projects and resolve technical issues efficiently.
  • Coordinate with customers and internal stakeholders to schedule installations and service appointments.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Provide accurate and detailed documentation of work completed, materials used, and customer interactions.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working for a telecom provider or in a related field.
  • In-depth knowledge of fiber optic technologies, including Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) installations.
  • Proficiency in splicing, terminating, and testing fiber optic cables and connectors.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues in fiber optic networks.
  • Familiarity with optical time-domain reflectometer (OTDR) testing and analysis.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Valid driver's license and a reliable work truck (to be provided by the applicant).
  • Physical ability to perform duties such as lifting heavy objects and working in various weather conditions.
