We believe that student-athletes benefit not only physically and emotionally by participating and competing in sports, and that one of our fundamental responsibilities is to help student-athletes develop critical skills (e.g., teamwork, resilience, leadership, tenacity, etc.) that promote success in the classroom, in college and in life.


Job Description:

UHS seeks to hire an experienced and enthusiastic leader to serve as the Boys JV Flag Football Head Coach. The ideal candidate(s) will have competitive football coaching experience either at the high school, college and/or elite club level, the ability to teach football fundamentals, conduct productive practices, and develop a strong program to improve the skills of football players of varying abilities. This is a part-time, seasonal role that goes from August to November.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Organize and administer the Boys JV Flag Football Team.
  • Teach skills, rules and strategy in effective training sessions.
  • Stay current on all Athletics rules and policies within the BCL.
  • Reinforce guidelines and team rules.
  • Model the importance of sportsmanship and foster a team-player attitude.
  • Provide a safe environment for student-athletes (physically and mentally).
  • Work collaboratively and effectively with the Varsity Head Coach, Athletic Trainers, Sports Performance Coaches,other coaches, Facilities personnel and others in the Department.
  • Ability to work with parents, faculty, staff and students in a constructive manner, even under stressful conditions.
  • Ability to bring fun and joy to practice and competitions.
Requirements:

Required knowledge, skills, abilities and experience include but are not limited to:

  • Playing and/or coaching experience at the high school, college and/or elite club level.
  • Experience that includes knowledge of National Federation High School (NFHS) rules and regulations of the sport and a knowledge of adolescent psychology as it relates to sports participation is preferred.
  • Possession of valid, unexpired CPR, and First Aid certifications.
  • NFHS coach certification.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 3 years of coaching experience at the secondary or collegiate level
  • Thorough knowledge of the rules, regulations, strategies, and techniques of the sport
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the Athletic administrators, other coaches, parents and students
  • Willingness to acquire required certifications.

Salary:

This is a seasonal, part-time job with a total pay of $5,000
