Job Summary
To provide every guest with the Bosphorous Standard of service, which includes but is not limited to timely, accurate, friendly, memorable service throughout the duration of the dining experience for all our guests. We believe that every guest is a part of our big family. Each server’s primary objective is to deliver exceptional hospitality to our guest by utilizing a positive outgoing attitude, suggestive selling, steps of service, and wine knowledge our serving staff creates the marvelous experience guest will want to return to.
Activities & Responsibilities
Primary
- Promote, work, and act in a manner consistent with the core values of Bosphorous Turkish Cuisine
- Greet all tables with authentic Turkish greeting, pronounced correctly
- Establish an authentic connection with the guests that reassures them that you will be taking care of them.
- Provide concise introduction to the restaurant and menu; answer questions about menu items, beverages, and other restaurant functions and services
- Explain to guests how various menu items are prepared, describing ingredients and cooking methods.
- Inform guests of menu changes or specials and make recommendations you genuinely feel your guests will enjoy.
- Follow Allergy and Dietary Restriction Policy when alerted by a guest.
- Accurately write down all food and beverage orders. Confirm orders with the guests by repeating back the order.
- Enter all food and beverage orders in POS terminal with proper seat positions prior to serving items to guests.
- Suggest dishes and/or beverages that will best suit the preferences for the guests.
- Describe and recommend wines to guests consistently working to expand your knowledge
- Properly open and serve bottled wine to guests.
- Prepare non-alcoholic beverages for guests.
- Check guests’ identification to ensure that they meet minimum age requirements for consumption of alcoholic beverages.
- Deliver alcoholic and single serve non-alcoholic beverages from the bar.
- Monitor and observe guests dining experience to ensure guests are satisfied with the food and service and respond promptly and courteously to correct any problems.
- Help run food and drinks to all tables in between table maintenance.
- Serve food or beverages to guests and explain specialty dishes at tables as required.
- Pre-bus tables between each course of the meal, removing all crumbs, replacing used silverware, and providing appropriate plates and silverware for the next course.
- Recommend desserts and after-dinner drinks.
- Remove dishes and glasses from tables or counters and take them to kitchen for cleaning.
- Prepare checks that itemize and total meal costs and sales taxes.
- Promptly collect payments from guests and immediately return credit cards or change.
- Thank guests for their visit and invite them to return, using authentic Turkish phrases.
- Assist host or hostess by answering phones to take reservations or to-go orders, and by greeting, seating, and thanking guests.
- Roll silverware and set up dining areas to prepare for the next shift or for large parties.
- Stock service areas with supplies such as coffee, condiments, food, tableware, paper goods, and linens.
- Perform cleaning duties, such as sweeping and mopping floors, vacuuming carpet, tidying up server station, taking out trash, or checking and cleaning bathroom as needed
- Perform food preparation duties such as cutting lemons/limes and brewing tea and coffee.
- Garnish and decorate dishes in preparation for serving.
- Fill salt, pepper, sugar, cream, condiment, and napkin containers.
- Attend all scheduled employee meetings and offers suggestions for improvement.
- Coordinate with and assist fellow employees to meet guests’ needs and support the operation of the restaurant.
- Fill-in for fellow employees where needed to ensure guest service standards and efficient operations.
