Animal Caretaker

This position is responsible for the wellbeing of the chickens on the farm.

Essential Job Functions

• Responsible for monitoring bird health and barn conditions.
• Monitor egg collection equipment.
• Assist in monitoring of feed and water systems.
• Remove daily mortality
• Assist with routine cleaning activities in the barns
• Preventative Maintenance of equipment
• Fill in for other farm work as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Prior farm experience preferred, but not required

Skills

• Strong attention to detail
• Remain focused to ensure accuracy and efficiency
• Conscious of surroundings at all times
• Able to follow instructions closely and multi-task

Physical Effort/ Work Environment

• Working in agricultural environment with exposure to dust particles in barns
• Increased exposure to heat in summer months in barns
• Walk all day
• Frequent bending
• Climbing 4’
• Lift 25 lbs.
• Ability to wear all available PPE (gloves, safety glasses or goggles, dust masks, N95 respirators, ½ mask respirators and full-face respirators.
• Shovel walkways and use wheelbarrows daily
