Job Summary:

As an Advanced Material Engineer at R.A.C.E, you will be responsible for product development and engineering, contributing to the design and creation of cutting-edge automotive solutions. Your role is integral to ensuring the highest quality, performance, and innovation in our products, with a particular emphasis on composites and advanced materials. You will work closely with the Director of Advanced Technologies to bring creative ideas to life.

Key Responsibilities:

Product Development:

  • Participate in product development processes from concept to final design.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure products meet design and performance standards.

Design and Prototyping:

  • Create and refine product designs using CAD software.
  • Develop prototypes and conduct testing to validate design concepts, especially those involving composites and advanced materials.

Technical Specifications:

  • Define product specifications and requirements in collaboration with the Director of Advanced Technologies.
  • Ensure that product designs align with company standards and customer needs, including the integration of composites and advanced materials.

Innovation and Creativity:

  • Contribute creative ideas and concepts to enhance the design and functionality of automotive solutions, with a focus on advanced materials.
  • Stay informed about industry trends and emerging technologies related to composites.



Quality Assurance:

  • Collaborate with Quality & Process Control teams to ensure that product designs, especially those involving advanced materials, meet quality and safety standards.
  • Address and resolve design-related issues related to composites and materials.

Collaboration:

  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing, materials, and testing, to bring products from concept to production while considering advanced materials.
  • Work with teams domestically and internationally at both Recaro Automotive and supplier/customer facilities.

Documentation:

  • Maintain accurate records and documentation related to product design and development, particularly in relation to composites and advanced materials.
  • Create technical documents and design specifications reflecting material choices.

Testing and Validation:

  • Conduct testing, simulations, and validation procedures to ensure product performance and safety, especially regarding advanced materials.
  • Identify and address design flaws and areas for improvement.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field with 5-10 years industry experience. Master's degree is a plus.
  • Proven experience in product engineering and design, with a strong background in composites and advanced materials, preferably in the automotive industry.
  • Proficiency in Solidworks/CATIA CAD software and engineering tools.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Creative thinking and innovation, particularly in the application of advanced materials.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on quality and safety.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team and independently.
  • Travel domestically & internationally as required - EU, Asia & Domestic Sites in the USA
