Are you a cigar enthusiast with a talent for writing? Maybe you’re a seasoned copywriter who enjoys a good cigar.  Enjoy a fulfilling career doing what you love as a copywriter for one of nation’s leading cigar retailers As a member of the marketing team, you’ll write content for a variety of projects including blog articles, social posts, print catalog, digital ads, video scripts, and more.  Showcase your talents as you collaborate with the copywriting and design teams to brainstorm ideas, develop concepts, and publish content across our marketing channels.

A versatile style of writing, ability to easily pivot between marketing mediums (e.g. digital versus print), and aptitude to learn quickly are the key characteristics needed to be successful in this role. An interest in cigars and knowledge of the cigar smoking community is a must. Experience as a cigar smoker is an extra plus as you’ll champion the creation of content that connects fellow cigar smoking enthusiasts with the latest products, trends, reviews, how to’s, and more.

Responsibilities

• Develop engaging and compelling content for a variety of audiences that aligns to our brand tone and voice
• Research, write, edit, and publish content across all marketing channels including print, web, social, mobile, and video
• Proofread and edit all copy to ensure accuracy and clarity
• Collaborate with SEO team to ensure keyword optimization in content production
• Create content in long-form and short-form for blog articles, emails, social posts, advertisements, catalog, and signage/events
• Contribute ideas and recommendations for article topics to the creative team
• Support the company’s marketing efforts by contributing meaningful well thought out copy that resonates with fellow cigar smokers
• Perform industry research to understand target audiences, industry trends, and competitor activity/messaging
• Collaborate cross-functionally with designers, photographers, videographers, and merchandising to deliver content on-time
• Stay up to date on the latest copywriting and content best practices and trends

Skills & Experience

• Knowledgeable with cigars and understands the ‘cigar smoking community’
• Bachelor’s degree preferably in marketing or communications or equivalent experience
• 2 years of prior experience in a similar role such as copywriter, editor, or content producer
• Well-versed with writing copy in both long and short form
• Working knowledge of SEO best practices and tactics to improve website traffic
• Experience/familiarity with Generative AI (GenAI) a plus
• Ability to write in a clear and concise manner using impeccable spelling and grammar
• Exceptional attention to detail and proofreading skills
• Proven track record of meeting deadlines while working under pressure
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
• Solid skills with MS Office applications (e.g. Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Experience with project management software (e.g. Jira or Basecamp) a plus
• Portfolio or samples that demonstrate your creative writing skills

Our History

In 1939, David and Rose Zaretsky opened the doors to a modest little smoke shop in midtown Manhattan. Now, 85 years later, their son Arthur has grown the business to one of the largest online retailers of cigars and cigar accessories in the United States. Operating out of Easton, Pennsylvania, our facility boasts a 20,000 square foot humidor which houses thousands of varieties of premium handmade and machine-made cigars from some of the top names in the industry and an onsite retail store.

Location: This may begin as a hybrid role with an expectation that it will likely become a permanent on-site position at our office in Easton, PA.  No relocation offered - must relocate at own expense.
