Under the supervision of the Facility Manager, This position is responsible for the more complex and critical Medical Air, Steam, and Plumbing systems of the facility, performing a variety of building and maintenance repair tasks of a skilled and semi-skilled nature in the areas of environmental control, automated and mechanical equipment maintenance, and repair of plumbing systems.


Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Performs skilled Plumbing work. Demonstrates skilled use of the computer facility management software system.
  • Performs semi-skilled HVAC work
  • Ability to perform and complete work at various sites throughout the healthcare network in an efficient manner.
  • Performs preventive maintenance on a variety of equipment according to established procedures. Inspects, calibrates, adjusts, lubricates, and repairs or replaces components of the Plumbing system. Services and repairs the more complex Plumbing equipment.
  • Schedules and maintains records of maintenance repairs.
  • In-services facility workers on required utility maintenance procedures when needed.
  • Responds to calls for emergency repairs off of normal working hours.
  • Performs and documents scheduled inspections to maintain conformance to code requirements.
  • Performs and documents equipment repairs and tests new and repaired equipment before it is put into service.
  • Trains staff in operation and repair of equipment.
  • Responsibilities include maintaining the facilities medical vacuum, medical air, and medical gas systems. Assists associated mechanics and vendors with repairs.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • HS Diploma or equivalent experience
  • Demonstrable Plumbing experience
  • 2+ years of experience in facilities engineering in a hospital environment
  • 5+ years of relevant commercial plumbing experience

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • NYS Backflow Preventer Certification, Medical Gas ASSE 6040 certification Preferred

Physical Requirements:

  • This positon requires the ability to lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Requirements also include climbing, bending, and the ability to get into tight spaces while working off a ladder.

Location and Travel Requirements:

  • Onsite at our Main Campus
  • Periodic travel to other facilities can be expected in this role

Pay Range Disclosure:

  • $22.00 to $27.00 per hour
