What will the Cad Drafter/Designer do?

The CAD Drafter/Designer is detail-oriented, responsible for creating and modifying detailed technical drawings and plans using computer-aided design (CAD) software AutoCAD. This CAD Drafter/Designer is an expert in mechanical design and using other drafting tools to produce accurate and precise drawings.

What is the Cad Drafter/Designer responsible for?

  1. Develop and produce detailed technical drawings and plans utilizing AutoCAD software and other drafting tools to ensure accuracy and precision in mechanical design.
  2. Analyze and interpret technical specifications, blueprints, and other design documentation to inform drawing creation.
  3. Maintain adherence to established design standards and guidelines in all drawing production.
  4. Revise and update existing drawings as needed to reflect design modifications or improvements.
  5. Collaborate effectively with engineers and other team members to meet project deadlines and ensure alignment with project goals.
  6. Create comprehensive 2D and 3D drawings to accurately represent product designs and specifications.
  7. Understand and apply project requirements to produce drawings that meet functional and aesthetic standards.

What knowledge, skills and abilities are required for the Cad Drafter/Designer role?

  1. Minimum of two years of experience as a CAD Drafter or a technical degree in a related field required.
  2. Proficiency in AutoCAD software.
  3. Strong understanding of mechanical design principles and drafting techniques.
  4. Ability to accurately interpret technical specifications and blueprints.
  5. Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  6. Experience in manufacturing environment preferred.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit/stand for most of his/her job duties. There is the need to frequently walk. There will be a moderate amount of standing, stooping, kneeling, bending, lifting, and reaching for some of his/her job duties. 

Visual requirements include reading off a computer screen as well as printed materials. A high degree of dexterity is required due to use of a telephone console. 

Verbal and auditory requirements include the ability to communicate clearly over the telephone as well as in person. 

There is a moderate level of grasping, lifting, pushing and/or pulling of objects.
