Job Purpose
A Pediatrician conducts thorough examinations, diagnoses illnesses, prescribes medications, administers vaccines, and provides guidance to parents regarding their child’s health, development, and well-being. Pediatricians also looks to prevent, detect and manage physical, behavioral and developmental issues that affect children.
Duties and responsibilities
- Prescribe or administer treatment, therapy, medication, vaccination, and other specialized medical care to treat or prevent illness, disease, or injury in infants and children in accordance to CHDP guidelines.
- Examine children regularly to assess their growth and development.
- Treat children who have minor illnesses, acute and chronic health problems, and growth and development concerns.
- Examine patients or order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests to obtain information on medical condition and determine diagnosis.
- Advise patients, parents or guardians, and community members concerning diet, activity, hygiene, and disease prevention.
- Explain procedures and discuss test results or prescribed treatments with patients and parents or guardians.
- Collect, record, and maintain patient information, such as medical history, reports, or examination results.
- Monitor patients' conditions and progress and reevaluate treatments as necessary.
- Direct and coordinate activities of nurses, students, assistants, specialists, therapists, and other medical staff.
- Plan and execute medical care programs to aid in the mental and physical growth and development of children and adolescents.
- Refer patient to medical specialist or other practitioner when necessary.
- Provide supervision and consultation to mid-level practitioners, other physicians, medical students, resident physicians or physician extender students.
- Perform outpatient clinic-based procedures to remove, repair, or improve functioning of diseased or injured body parts and systems, to the extent of their training and scope of practice.
- Plan, implement, or administer health programs or standards in hospitals, businesses, or communities for prevention or treatment of injury or illness.
- Prepare government or organizational reports of birth, death, and disease statistics, workforce evaluations, or medical status of individuals.
- Commitment to mission of CSC Health as demonstrated by with clinic involvement and engaging in healthcare community events.
- Provider may staff a variety of locations depending upon the need of the organization, with occasional Saturday shifts.
- Employees are responsible for maintaining individual certifications as required by job function or by law and provide verification and recertification when requested by management.
- All other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
- A Medical degree and the successful completion of a residency in pediatrics.
- CA Medical License.
- DEA registration to prescribe controlled substances.
- Board Certified or Board Eligible as a Pediatrician.
- Continuing Medical Education (CME) credit to maintain license and board certification after residency.
- Bilingual in English and Chinese is a plus, but not required.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills as well as the ability to relate to children.
- Strong decision-making, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills.
- Good organizational, leadership, and team working skills.
- A caring and compassionate nature when working with children and their families.
