Academic Coordinator

Job Purpose

The Academic Coordinator works with the clinical team to provide academic education classes for adolescent person(s) served in residential treatment services. They will create and execute a lesson plan for multiple adolescents of various ages during their residential treatment. This job requires the ability to work independently, and as part of a team to provide the best care and education for the person(s) served.

Qualifications

• Associate degree required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Minimum of certification to substitute teach in the state of Missouri.

Core Job Duties

• Provide academic education classes to all person(s) served in conjunction with their individualized academic treatment plan.
• Collaborate with the associated schools of person(s) served to coordinate assignments and communicate regarding grades.
• Complete an educational assessment on all person(s) served in the program.
• Communicate with treatment team regarding academic goals and progress of person(s) served and participate in team meetings.
• Identify ways to modify classroom work to meet the learning and behavioral needs of persons served with Individualized Education Plans and/or special education needs.
• Develop and maintain education curriculum and present new curriculum to Program Leadership for approval.
• Adherence to all applicable evidence-based practice models.
• Demonstrate a working knowledge of diagnostic criteria sets for substance use and/or mental disorders.
• Orally communicate information effectively and accurately.
• Assure program operates within the constraints of the agency’s certification (CARF, DMH) standards and strategic plan related to clinical care.
• Abide by program and agency policies and procedures
• Other job duties and special projects as assigned.
