Job DescriptionJob Description

The Hunger prevention Manager oversees operation, with concern for its operational efficiency and standards. This will include guiding the further development of the Shifa hunger prevention program by counting its resources, financial assets, reputation, partnerships and volunteer body. Will work with Shifa Administrative team to ensure the financial viability of the Pantry by seeking grant opportunities and soliciting contributions. The Hunger Prevention Manager is responsible for all aspects of the Food Pantry procurement and distribution of food, including pickup, receipt, storage, and distribution of food to community members in need. Trains and manages staff and volunteers to meet daily client needs. Lead a team of two members including a food pantry assistant and a driver. Embraces ICNA Relief USA Programs-Shifa Free Clinic c core value is to serve those in need with kindness and compassion.

1) Administrative Responsibilities • Works with management team to fulfill the organization’s mission. • Responsible for leading the hunger prevention program in a manner that supports and guides the organization’s mission as defined by the Board. • Responsible for communicating effectively with the administrative team and providing, in a timely and accurate manner, all information necessary for the proper functioning and to make informed decisions. Prepare monthly reports.

2) Organization Mission and Strategy: • Works with administrative team and staff to ensure that the mission is fulfilled through programs, strategic planning and community outreach • Responsible for implementation of the Pantry’s programs that carry out the organization’s mission • Responsible for strategic planning to ensure that the Pantry’s can successfully fulfill its mission into the future. • Responsible for the enhancement of the Pantry’s image by being active and visible in the community and by working closely with other professional, civic and private organizations.

3) Organization Operations: • Oversees and implements appropriate resources to ensure that the operations of the organization are appropriate. • Responsible effective administration of the Pantry’s daily operations. • Supervise volunteers involved in Pantry operations. • Coordinate and accept applicants for the Pantry and expand knowledge of the Pantry throughout the community. • Maintain Food Inventory records and track food acquisition expenses • Manage the Food Pantry’s website ensuring that displayed information is accurate and current, respond to e-mails and correspondence through the Pantry’s Facebook page • Work with available food resources to maximize food selections available to clients of the Pantry. • Coordinate with community agencies and civic organizations to promote food collection. • Coordinate a Public Relations campaign through advertisements and public speaking in an effort to raise awareness of the Food Pantry and increase both food donations and financial support. • Perform other duties as required by the Executive Director.

Job Skills Requirements:  • Proficient in basic computer applications, such as word processing, Excel, PowerPoint spreadsheets, and internet usage Record keeping skills • Organization and planning skills. • Strong communication and leadership skills – position requires ability to interact and communicate with staff, volunteers, and community (pantry clients and donors). • Knowledge of warehouse safety, storage practices, and inventory management required. • Able to work as a collaborative team member in delivering customer service • Problem-solving • People skills • Adaptability

Desired Education: A degree in Business, Community Services, Social Work, or a related field preferred. A combination of related experience and/or training may be substituted

Desired Experience:

  1. 1 year of food industry experience
  2. 1-2 years non-profit experience (volunteering will count)
  3. Two years of managerial experience
  4. One year of community events and outreach
