  • The instructor will assist the SPED cyber-school student during normal school hours, remotely and face-to-face.

  • F2F services are provided at an agreed-upon location between the parent/guardian and the IA.

Essential Functions of this position:

  • Records and reports appropriate data regarding academic, behavioral, and/or health information and services provided to students using the appropriate service log.

  • Assists students to use instructional materials and equipment.

  • Provides verbal and/or written feedback of observations to the parent.

  • Works 1:1 with students to reinforce instructional objectives.

  • Adapts activities, assignments, and/or materials as directed by the parent and teacher to allow students to complete assignments and meet goals.

  • Supports students with emotional or behavioral concerns and assists in developing appropriate social skills.

  • Assists in the management and shaping of student behavioral techniques and/or positive reinforcement strategies.

  • Maintains a safe learning environment for students.

  • First Aid and/or CPR certification preferred, but not required

  • Reports any change in daily physical condition to parent

Candidates must demonstrate knowledge of:

  • the growth, development, and potential educational challenges of students with disabilities.

  • the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).

  • the types of educational disabilities and special education programs as outlined in the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).

Candidates must demonstrate the ability to:

  • illustrate an understanding, patient, and receptive attitude towards students of varied age groups, temperaments, and abilities.

  • behave and speak in a professional manner at all times.

  • maintain a cooperative relationship with students, parents, and all personnel.

  • read, write, and speak English.

  • operate a computer including relevant software applications.

  • maintain student confidentiality and handle information and materials with complete security.

  • navigate cyber classroom website

  • learn and apply behavior modification or management strategies, techniques, and reinforcement methods.

  • learn and utilize instructional materials, assistive technology, and/or communication devices used by students.

  • maintain accurate, complete, and correct service logs for all students.

  • act calmly and appropriately in emergency situations.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 60 college credits or an Associate's degree required.

  • At least 1-year experience working with adolescents (i.e. employment, volunteer, internship, student teaching, etc.)

  • Tuberculosis Test reflecting negative results (less than 1-year-old)

  • Pennsylvania State Police Criminal History Clearance (Act 34)

  • Child Abuse Clearance (Act 151)

  • Federal Criminal History Clearance (Act 24)

  • CPR & First Aid Certification (preferred)

*Clearances, TB test, and physical must be processed within the lasts 10 months*
