Job Description

About this job:

PartnerRe is looking to grow their US Life business and expand their mortality pricing capabilities.  This is a unique position whereby the Associate Actuary will have the opportunity to assist in the development of improved pricing capabilities for a relatively new entrant to the US Life Reinsurance business.

The successful applicant will support the Pricing team to prepare quotes for clients’ reinsurance requests. The incumbent will primarily be responsible for the modeling and financial analysis in GGY AXIS.  Given this is a small team, the incumbent will also assist in assumption research and development based on other priorities. As the portfolio grows, the incumbent will review treaty performance to ensure the business is performing as expected.

Accountabilities:

  • Support assumption development as needed based on data provided by the client for mortality, lapse and distribution.
  • Create and maintain AXIS models for pricing reinsurance quotes and performing profitability analysis of results.
  • Peer review AXIS models and results performed by other pricing team members.
  • Ensure that models meet corporate guidelines, reflect best practices, and are updated for regulatory changes (e.g., USGAAP LDTI and PBR)
  • Create and maintain documentation of pricing materials to support internal peer review, internal approval, and finalize for future audit requests.
  • Review client data against a checklist to ensure completeness for modeling.  Support client interaction as needed on quote specific information.
  • Review experience for existing reinsurance clients to ensure that profitability is emerging as expected and recommending changes to assumptions, if necessary, during re-quoting.
Qualifications

About you:

  • Strong technical and analytical skills.
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to prioritize and multi-task.
  • A self-starter who can work in an open, collaborative environment with a diverse team of financial professionals.
  • Demonstrated ability to promote effective teamwork and accountability.
  • Strong work ethic and a desire to succeed.
  • Solid verbal and written communication skills.

Education / Further Requirements:

  • Solid knowledge of GGY AXIS software (or comparable actuarial modeling system) is desired.
  • Life insurance/reinsurance experience a plus.
  • Familiarity with life pricing and/or product development.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Advanced Excel.
  • Knowledge of other programs such as R, SQL, Tableau, Python, is required.
