About the Position:
Without the strength of the accounting team here at Valmetal Tulare, we wouldnt be able to offer the industry-leading solutions and service were known for. Were seeking an experienced controller to oversee our financial and accounting operations. The ideal candidate will have experience as a controller in manufacturing, preferably in a senior role. As a strong communicator and skilled financial analyst, this person will streamline our financial operations, budgeting, payroll, and financial reporting processes. The controller will also produce thorough financial-status reports for senior managers to help improve our operational efficiency and aid in our continued growth.Collaboration and standardization with the other divisions of the Valmetal Group will be developed for consolidation and synergy.We are hiring now in order to be proactive in replacing our current controller, which will retire at the end of 2025, so a smooth transition with proper training on our systems and processes can take place.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Oversee and support accounting team and inventory coordinator with dynamic leadership that creates an environment of trust and productivity
Play an important role as a member of the management team and, with in-depth knowledge of the business model and operations, as a business partner to the other departments and divisions, fostering collaboration across departments and driving collective progress.
Lead continuous improvement initiatives within the finance department of the division and contribute to strategic projects across departments
Insure internal controls, compliance and accuracy in accounting operations and inventory.
Maximize payroll and accounting operations efficiency through innovative process improvement and development
Prepares and analyzes financial performance reports with variance explanations.
Analyzes current and prospective operations to identify opportunities to improve revenue and reduce expenses.
Coordinates monthly and annual closing processes including reconciliations of balance sheet accounts.
Maintains standard costing system and ensures inventory is accurate and properly valued.
Qualifications & Skills:
Bachelors degree in finance, accounting
Five years experience as a controller in a manufacturing environment.
Excellent organizational and analytical skills.
Proficient PC skills including Microsoft Office
Innovative leadership, communication, and staff development skills.
Preferred Skills and Abilities
- 5+ years of related industry experience in Production
- Experience with ICSI Infor (Syteline) / Factory Track

Environmental Conditions:
While this position is primarily stationed in an office setting where there is little to no exposure, the Controller may be exposed to the following elements when walking throughout the plant:
Dirt, grease, fumes, and airborne particles
Noise from loud machinery
Chemicals and paint
Fluctuating temperatures
While visiting the manufacturing areas of the plant, use of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) is always required.
Physical Demands:
Work is typically performed in an office setting.
Regularly required to sit for extended periods of time, as well as talk and listen on the phone and in person conversations or meetings.
Occasionally required to move about the office.
Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds in working with large files, binders, and computer equipment.
