Job Title: Optometric Technician


Job Type: Full-time

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Optometric Technician to join our team. As an Optometric Technician, you will be responsible for assisting the Optometrist in providing exceptional eye care services to our patients.


Responsibilities:

- Conduct preliminary eye exams and tests, including visual acuity, depth perception, and color vision tests

- Prepare patients for eye exams by explaining the process and answering any questions they may have

- Assist the Optometrist in performing eye exams, including measuring and recording eye measurements, testing eye muscle function, and evaluating eye health

- Educate patients on proper contact lens insertion, removal, and care

- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records

- Clean and maintain equipment and instruments used in eye exams

- Order and maintain inventory of supplies and materials


Requirements:

- High school diploma or equivalent

- Previous experience as an Optometric Technician preferred

- Knowledge of eye anatomy, physiology, and common eye diseases

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously

- Strong attention to detail and accuracy

- Proficient in basic computer skills

Requirements:

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Professional attitude and appearance;
  • Must be extremely efficient, organized, flexible and resourceful;
  • Knowledge of technology and optometric equipment;
  • Bilingual required, clinic services 30 different languages;
  • Strong customer service skills and deliver services in a culturally sensitive manner for our non-English speaking patients
  • Insurance verification experience preferred;
  • Understand and maintain HIPAA standards of privacy and confidentiality;
  • Understand vision and medical insurance;
  • Strong written and oral communication skills;
  • Able to use Microsoft Office and office equipment (e.g., computer, copier) ;
  • Detail Oriented;
  • Able to handle multiple tasks, complexity, and diversity of patients


EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

High School diploma or GED is required; Associates Degree is preferred. Experience in the optical field and referral/patient navigation is preferred.


OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:

  • Bilingual (Vietnamese, Chinese, Burmese, Arabic and/or Spanish with English) is required;
  • Above average skills in language ability as well as public speaking and writing;
  • Must have good transportation and a valid Texas Driver’s license.
