Job Summary


This PRN / as needed pharmacist position would cover 1 shift a week (Monday or Tuesday) and work relief as needed.

She/he will support a growing independent pharmacy by fulfilling all standard pharmacist responsibilities. This pharmacist should be interested in engaging, educating and talking with patients to provide exceptional experiences and working side-by-side with technicians and staff to execute daily operations and needs of the pharmacy.

Responsibilities and Duties


  • Prepares medications by reviewing and interpreting physician orders; detecting therapeutic incompatibilities.
  • Dispenses medications by compounding, packaging, and labeling pharmaceuticals.
  • Controls medications by monitoring drug therapies; advising interventions.
  • Completes pharmacy operational requirements by organizing and directing technicians' workflow; verifying their preparation and labeling of pharmaceuticals; verifying order entries, charges, and inspections.
  • Provides pharmacological information by answering questions and requests of health care professionals; counseling patients on drug therapies.
  • Maintaining awareness of our over-the-counter products and supplements to educate and over to patients if applicable.
  • Contacts doctors or medical staff when needed and communicates effectively and efficiently to best support the patient
  • Collaborates with pharmacy technicians and staff to be efficient and keep patient first mentality
  • Complies with state and federal drug laws as regulated by the state board of pharmacy, the drug enforcement administration, and the food and drug administration
  • Protects patients and technicians by adhering to infection-control protocols
  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Maintains pharmacological knowledge and knowledge about Solutions Pharmacy to be prepared when called upon for a shift
Qualifications and Skills


PharmD from an accredited college or university.

Current Texas Pharmacist License

No criminal record

Current Drivers License

Experience with Pioneer pharmacy software a plus but not required

Experience with a compounding pharmacy a plus but not required

Job Type: Contract

Experience:

  • compounding pharmacy: 1 year (Preferred)
  • retail pharmacy: 1 year (Required)
