Groundskeeper Supervisor

INTRODUCTION TO ROLE:
The Groundskeeping Supervisor’s responsibility is to lead a team of groundskeepers and perform various outdoor landscaping activities such as mowing, trash clean-up and removal, and site maintenance. This role ensures all outside areas, including sites, communal and surrounding areas, are well maintained, clean, orderly, and visually appealing.
The supervisor will assign duties, inspect work, investigate complaints regarding grounds/landscaping, and take corrective action. They may also purchase ground supplies and equipment, take periodic inventories, screen applicants, train new employees, and recommend dismissals. The supervisor is responsible for the daily upkeep of the property, buildings, vehicles, tools and equipment, and grounds.

WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON:

- Perform daily groundskeeping duties with the team to maintain various properties’ grounds.
- Operate vehicles and powered equipment such as mowers, tractors, twin-axle vehicles, backhoes, forklifts, etc. The supervisor will be the primary driver of the truck for team transport to properties.
- Operate small handheld manual or power equipment for basic lawn care, such as weedwhackers, hedge trimmers, clippers, etc.
- Assign workers their duties and inspect work for conformance to prescribed standards.
- Investigate complaints regarding groundskeeping services or equipment and take appropriate action.
- Screen applicants, conduct training, explain policies and work procedures, and demonstrate safe and proper use of equipment
- Examine resort properties to determine the need for repairs, replacement, or ground attention and make recommendations to management
- Purchase, order, and maintain supplies, tools, and equipment and issue to workers as needed
- Be the primary point of contact for property GMs to ensure work is thorough, timely, and meets expectations for the property/brand
- Keep work and storage areas, vehicles, and equipment well-maintained, organized, and clean.
- Providing onsite guest support through a high-quality customer service approach.
- Adhere strictly to rules regarding health and safety and be aware of any company-related practices.
- Ensure the property is clean, orderly, well-manicured, and always guest-ready
- Must be reliable in attendance and flexible with hours based on business needs
- Perform other duties as assigned
WHO YOU WILL WORK WITH:
The Groundskeeping Supervisor reports to the Regional Operations Manager
WHAT YOU BRING
- High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
- At least two years of hospitality experience in grounds/landscaping
- Forklift certification is a plus
- Must have a valid license with a safe driving record
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is frequently required to climb or balance. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee will continuously use hand strength to grasp tools and climb limbs and ladders. The employee will frequently bend or twist the next truck while performing the duties of this position. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75-100 pounds (with the assistance of a team lift or hand tool). Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee must be able to drive.
The hospitality environment is fast-paced, and at times, you may be required to cover or assist with tasks/job functions outside of the job you were hired for. We require each of our team members to have an All-Hands-On-Deck mindset. This means you may be tasked with other functions and are expected to complete those tasks with the same level of enthusiasm and dedication as you would with your normal job duties.
