Reports to: Plant Manager
Base pay rate: $18.00 per hour (starting)

Job Summary: The Material Handler will safely operate various machines and equipment involved in inventory management of manufacturing materials and finished goods.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Safely operates machinery in accordance with specifications and directions. Assigned machines may include cardboard bailers, forklifts, and similar equipment
Be able to manually sort inbound manufacturing material (i.e., cardboard) by identifying usable and unusable supply and handling accordingly
Be knowledgeable and skilled to work in multiple areas of the material handling process
Process the required quantity of materials within established specifications and tolerances
Inspects equipment prior to use to ensure proper setup and alignment; performs basic and routine adjustments when possible and escalates to leadership and/or maintenance for support
Maintains a safe, clean, and orderly work area
Participate in continuous improvement conversations around safety, productivity, and environment
Other duties as assigned

Skills and Abilities:
Ability to follow directions and work well in a team
Ability to interpret and translate engineering designs and documentation
Thorough understanding of or the ability to quickly learn production equipment
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Demonstrated can-do, will-do approach
Understanding of and the ability to abide by applicable OSHA and environmental regulations

Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent required
Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred

Work Environment and Physical Demands:
Prolonged periods working on feet, using tools, and performing repetitive actions that entail frequent bending and stooping
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time
Visual acuity to read instructions, operate machines, and inspect parts produced
Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment as required for safety
