Title:                Yard Technician/Laborer

Supervisor:      Operations Officer / Sanitation Supervisor

FLSA Status:     Nonexempt, Full-time

Position Summary

The Yard Technician/Laborer is responsible for the overall maintenance and cleaning of the Good Man shop and yard space. General deep cleaning and repair service and maintenance of portable restrooms, sinks, and other portable sanitation assets. The Yard Technician/Laborer will perform cleaning, stocking, maintenance, repair, adjustments, and minor work to ensure that portable sanitation assets are properly maintained and meet Good Man Sanitation clean and safety standards. The Yard Technician/Laborer also works to support the needs of the septic crew via digging and manual labor as needed on septic job sites. The Yard Technician/Laborer works independently to perform their duties under the direction of the Sanitation Supervisor. In addition to maintaining our vision by adhering to our values, this position must provide the highest level of service to our clients.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Deep clean portable sanitation assets in preparation for redelivery
  • Prepare and keep daily records and reports of actions taken, including maintenance and repair work
  • Operate portable sanitation cleaning equipment and tools
  • Service, adjust, and make repairs to equipment, machines, and attachments
  • Create and maintain organizational system for tools and equipment in the shop and supply room
  • Take weekly inventory of supplies
  • Maintain grounds surrounding the Good Man shop and office including garden beds etc.
  • Clean and detail fleet vehicles on a regular schedule
  • Accompany septic staff to provide digging and general labor to complete jobs
  • Pump off & fill out forms for North Sound
  • Know, understand, and follow all safety procedures
  • Communicate with supervisors and other employees, using equipment such as wireless phones, pagers, or radio telephones
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must have a valid driver’s license for operation of a motor vehicle and possess an acceptable driving record

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Adept use of all necessary tools and equipment required to perform cleaning and conduct maintenance
  • Recordkeeping and report techniques and ability to acquire software skills and use systems to maintain logs, inventories, scheduling and respond to service requests
  • Excellent customer service practices and the ability to communicate well verbally and in writing
  • Knowledge of workplace safety procedures
  • Basic arithmetic calculations quickly and accurately
  • Understand and apply health and safety regulations
  • Perform assigned tasks independently and ask for supervision or guidance as needed
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written directions
  • Meet the physical demands of the job
  • Ability to work outdoors, in all sorts of weather
  • Must be a team player and collaborative problem solver
  • Uphold a positive attitude and neat, professional presence
  • Maintain self-motivation and remain productive throughout the day
