POSITION SUMMARY

The Senior Design Engineer will primarily be responsible for product design engineering of aftermarket pick-up truck bed covers (a.k.a. Tonneau Covers)/Caps and related components for RealTruck’s initiatives. Projects and work will include conceptual development all the way through start of production, as well as vehicle application engineering.

Position responsibilities:

  • Design Class A parts using SolidWorks surface modeling.
  • Design mechanical components and assemblies using SolidWorks solid modeling.
  • Participate in activities to verify the accuracy of designs, while documenting each process.
  • Perform redesigns and design changes on existing products to improve manufacturability, reduce warranty, or reduce costs.
  • Create and review technical drawings, plans, and specifications within file management software.
  • Create, update, and ensure accuracy of BOMs within ERP software.
  • Initiate and validate ECOs as they relate to product improvements and/or modifications.
  • Define, oversee, and help perform testing and auditing of new products and product modifications.
  • Provide support to product manufacturing engineering and manufacturing during production release of a new product.
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

Education and Experience
• Minimum 4-year Bachelor of Science Engineering degree is required.
• Minimum 6+ years of hands-on, professional automotive product engineering experience working in OEM or Tier 1 body/exterior/sealing/mechanisms or equivalent is required.

Skills and Abilities
• Possess strong problem-solving skills.
• Skilled in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Skilled in SolidWorks or other CAD software.
• Ability to write, speak, and comprehend English.
• Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills.
• Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills with a focus on root cause analysis.

Travel
• Occasional travel is required, especially between local ARE facilities.
